Stemming from the folklore of Europe, fairies (or faeries) are little supernatural beings that have been with us for centuries. We are usually introduced to them in childhood, when we are encouraged to make offerings to the Tooth Fairy, or to make a wish to our Fairy Godmother.
Even in later life, this attraction manifests itself in the collection of fairy items – art, ceramics, figures - in varying styles from traditional to gothic.
Fairies themselves are magical spirits associated with the elements, flowers, butterflies and other tiny creatures of the natural world. They get along with all manner of living things, and they use their magical powers wisely and never abuse them. Each fairy has its own specific talent or 'fairy gift' for performing its tasks. And as a team, they can make extremely effective use of their collective powers.
