Ginger Essential Oil
Latin name: zingiber officinale

Extraction by steam distillation from unpeeled or dried then ground rhizomes (ginger roots)

Properties:
Watery to medium viscosity
Scent is strong, sharp, warm and spicy, with a tinge of lemon
Colour can vary from pale yellow to dark amber

Uses:
Can relieve catarrh, colds and flu, coughs, sinusitis and congestion
It can warm muscles and joints, thus helping with arthritis, rheumatism and general muscle aches and pains
It can help with nausea, motion sickness and morning sickness
It can be used as an aid for poor circulation and digestive problems
It can be used to help soothe and disperse bruising

Other applications:
It is said to combat lethargy and feelings of loneliness and loss of libido

Warnings:
It is non-toxic but should be used in low concentration
Could irritate sensitive skin and can sometimes cause photosensitivity
Can be used sensibly during pregnancy to combat morning sickness, but not too often and not in high concentrations
Not for babies, infants or children under 12
