Witches belong both in a fantasy world and in the real world. The latter because of the thousands of people in history persecuted and executed as "witches", and the former because in general we have romanticised the whole idea of "the witch" so that she is someone who rides a broomstick complete with black cat and warts and cast spells on anyone in her way - all Hollywood rubbish, of course, but amazingly appealing.
A witch makes "magic" and worships the Great Mother Goddess and the Horned God. In other words, the witch has developed magical psychic powers, but also applies the wisdom to use them. In fact, out of the seeds of feminism has grown the use of the term Wise Woman rather than witch, although it is true that both men and women are attracted by the idea of the Goddess/God deity. The traditional female witch worships the Divine in its female form, while the traditional male witch is a natural countryman in touch with the elements.
Meanwhile, many of us like to carry little reminders of our inner "witch" around with us, and here you might find your own little bit of magic.
