When we think of Tibet we think of prayer flags, singing bowls, figures of the Buddha, prayer wheels and incense.
The Shakyamuni Buddha (Gautama, or Sidharta) is probably the most familiar to us here in the West, together with the Chinese Laughing Buddha.
Singing bowls are used in meditation and rituals, each bowl producing its own sacred Om sound, which helps to focus the mind.
Prayer flags are hung horizontally to blow in the wind, and the prayers they express become a permanent part of the universe as their images fade. New flags are mounted beside the old to renew the prayers for the world.
